Cam Site

The Cam Site is a free African-American homestead archaeological site in Shelton, CT with a historic Native American ceremonial stone landscape on the homestead. The Cam family had ties to the Golden Hill Paugussett Tribe. This is important site which contributes to our knowledge of the free African-American experience in Connecticut and the African-American communities relationship with the Native American community. We are posting our research to share with scholars and other interested persons. The reports have had minor redactions to protect the exact location of the archaeological site.
