Privy

Before the introduction of modern plumbing and flush toilets, every farm had an “outhouse” or “privy.” The privy also served as a convenient place to dispose of broken household items. Archaeologists find that excavating privies provides a wealth of information about the financial status of the occupants, different time periods the farm was used, and other useful information.
